Provo Health began as Juanique’s massage therapy practice and was based out of Juanique and Tristin’s home. Juanique quickly became so well-loved by her clients that she could not accommodate everyone who wanted to see her. Her thriving practice was at its peak when she was forced to close up shop by a family move to Texas. She thought she had entered massage retirement.
The Rebirth
in November 2016, doctors discovered cancer in Tristin’s colon. After nine months of painful and emotionally-taxing treatment, everyone believed the ordeal was over.
Unfortunately, a follow-up scan in August 2017 revealed that the cancer had metastasized to Tristin’s lungs. Doctors gave Tristin a 5% chance of survival.
Juanique and Tristin refused to accept these odds, so they began searching for treatments that could be used to save Tristin’s life. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and HOCATT quickly rose to the top of the list. In spite of the extremely high costs, Juanique was determined to get Tristin frequent and ongoing treatment in these promising machines.
After a lot of planning and negotiating on Juanique’s part–and a lot of hard work on everyone’s part–two incredible machines were purchased and installed in the back room of the Natural Apothecary in Orem, where Cecilia Salvesen was already offering foot compression and reflexology treatments, lymph massage and drainage, and massage therapy. Thus was Provo Health reborn.
Nutritional DNA epigenetic counseling was soon added to the menu of services, rounding out the most unique and personalized health center in Utah.
